Hi Dave
Missiles in WWII have always a fascination of mine, and in all honesty a missile air defense in WWII in NZ well that causes the mind to boggle.
Countries like UK/US built ASM's (Air to surface) used both in the Europe/Pacific areas (UK 30/60lb unguided rockets).
US has radio guided Missile used against Jap positions/shipping (TDR-1 Assault Drone carried a 2,000 lb. bomb load or torpedo, ASM-2 BAT incorporated a sophisticated gyro stabilizer system ).
Germans had anti shipping missiles (eg Fritz Xs )
Russians/US had SSM (Surface to Surface) missile such as battery rockets, Germans V1/2 rockets
None of the warring factions had SAM's (Surface to Air)s.
The Germans were researching it, US/UK were establishing micro wave technology which post war would lead to the development of SAM's.
As I am aware the first true SAM's did not eventuate till late 1950's early 1960's
With this blurb in mind to things come to the fore 1) Either some one in the archives made a typo Date wise.
2) NZ had some hidden talent to which the rest of the world was not aware of!!
A third one comes to mind in that the word missile is misconstrued for Anti Aircraft weaponry which I have seen previous (once or twice only mind you). missile being the loose term for shell/bullet in which case some one had an interesting use of the English language terminology wise
Other than that I cannot offer any other explanation for the term usage

Sorry to shatter your dream. ADMS is part of the medical system - the Assistant Director Medical Services who was responsible for establishing and implimenting the medical support plan.

;D That's more like it, thanks Paul. Yes, the Archives perhaps made a booboo.
I thought maybe the Home Guard had created some home made rockets.
