Interesting Shamus. I guess that airframe in the first and second shot will be NZ2087, which ended up with the RNZAF Museum and is now in private hands, whilst the other one looks like the remains now at Ohakea. What a shame. There were some photos on the forum a while back showing both fueslages looking virtually complete sitting by the garage.

Yes, Tonys18 Don has one of the best collections of photos I have seen. We have been friends and associates for nearly 40 years. Our trips all over NZ to collect aircraft parts are legend. We spent this morning going through some of the collection and some of them are posted today. If you have anything specifically that interests you post it on the forum and we will see what is available.

Thanks Shamus and Don, it's a privilege to see these photos here. As Don has a beautiful Vincent under restoration I'd be interested in photos of its recovery and early restoration if he has any.

Is Don still in the hangar up at Stan Smiths end, or has he moved down the field - I haven't been out there for 4-5 yrs.

All of Don's collection is at his 11 acre block about 4 kms from the airfield with the exception of the Provost which is at the North Shore airfield.

Here are a couple of photos of Hudsons at Asplins, courtesy of Don Subritzky. The other one of the Hudson Hut I am not sure where from. Looking through some old photos when I found these and thought I had seen some similar in an old thread. I took these ones in 1971 (Sep and Oct) This is the same fuselage shown in Shamus' photo, but I noted the letter Y on the rear fuselage. Alongside "Y" was this one, coded "X" Also down the yard was this turret. One of these is probably NZ2087, but I would like to be able to identify both aircraft. Any thoughts

I reckon that the prominent aircraft in this lot (the one sitting low with the front of nose and rear fuselage chopped off) is NZ2084, which ended up at the RNZAF Museum in late 1980s, then was sold off to a collector. It was fairly easy to identify as it had PART of the USAF number visible still painted below port side pilots' window, and by a process of elimination 2084 it had to be. It was probably also unique in still retaining the beam mountings for the Vickers VGOs - although God only knows why or how! David D
