Dave, the first Taylor J-2 Cubs (ZK-AFQ and ZK-AGD) arrived in 1938 - Barnard Owen, the Christchurch chemist, was the agent. Peter, you wouldn't happen to have an ownership chain/history for AGD by any chance? Mine's missing some dates and I'm unsure if it's complete:
