Ok chaps Here we go. I am a but unsure where I left off last time but this is what I have recently been working on. I made a new centre verticle frame for the windscreen as I needed to tweak its position in 2 areas (in the verticle alignment and it was also rebated in too far to accept a vac screen and line up with the outside fuse) I have also started adding the fine mesh in the 'boat' type housing above the cockpit. You probably cant see it here but I have the plastic wafer thin to simulate the skin thickness. I am presently in the process of thinning the other side. A big challenge was finding the right 'weave' of mesh to match the actual machine. Fortunately I found a scrap in my spares box that miracously matched perfectly! Because I had glues the floor into the stbd side of the fuse I could proceed to fill this area with superglue and blend with my friend Mr Surfacer. I had to be careful so as not to loose the door seal detail. Once the 2 halves are glued together the whole lower/back end can be sorted out. Next up was the lower forward door opening, This needed to be replaced again with a better one as I was not overly happy with the shape. I laminated 2 pieces to replicate the door rebate coming up from the floor, built the outer skin up t continue following the fuse contour. Finally a buff, rescribe of the panel line with my photoetch saw and a final spray with Mr Surfacer again to check for imperfections. And an overall final shot Thanks for looking in guys and its good to be back on the BK as well as the A-4K! Cheers Anthony

Great to see some progress being made Anthony. I dusted off the Fletcher the other day and spent a whole rugby test putting the etch brassed flap actuators I made together. Not worth posting photos but I must say I get motivated by seeing other works also getting back onto the workbench.
May one of us finish by Christmas... hurrah!

Anthony is a little beaver at the moment as he is putting together a Gipsy Major for a static display AND working on his Auster's woodwork AND studying for something (sorry mate not sure what it is you were doing something eyewear related I'm sure!)at work. His fingers are waaaaaay shorter than they used to be!

Rumours are that there are noises of industry coming from Anthony's man cave, lights on late at night, and the subject of his endeavours may yet indeed be, the long dormant BK
Exciting times!!

Not trying to depress you Ants but do you realise you started this thread in 2008? Ahh but I suppose quality takes time eh? Is that some kind of drilling jig you have in the photo?

2008...sheesh Ok a photo update as promised. I am sorry you cant see a lot in these pics, but I have been test fitting, trimming and more test fitting etc. Finally I am close to where I need to be before adding more photoetch. I will take some more pics in a few days when everything is out again and not all crammed in the front fuselage. But I was so pleased at how the cockpit structure is shaping up and all fitting together. I just had to snap some pics before bed. Ok here you go Test fitting photoetch panel...nearly there As you can see...I still have to sort this depth perception thing again! Ok so I will sort the centre consul out then I have to make the last NACA intake for the cockpit fresh air on the stbd side. Also I have figured out how to deal with the windows in the nose footwells....more on that later. I am dying to get more into this photoetch from Chris. Thanks for looking in gents, I will post some different ones in a few days of those scratchbuilt bits in the nose when they are out. Any advice always appreciated...honestly! Cheers Anthony

Thanks guys....she's been quite the long haul for me! Never realized it would have turned into such a mission when I started it.....oh well. Ok here is the window frame cut from the old parts kit and thinned down One is installed now with the other to be fitted. I took this photo to specifically show the area of the nose that was sanded in to a pointer shape and corrected the window shape as well as the blending into the top of the nose. Inside view Everything refinished in Mr Surfacer and reassembled to test Got to finish off that NACA cold air intake Side view Thanks for looking Cheers Anthony
