What is that on Barrie's and the other pilot's flying overalls below the left breast pocket? Is that a squadron badge? If so, it seems an odd place to position it.

I think these were taken at the Battle Of Britain airshow Nicosia That is a superb photo!

Very interesting. The fourth shot looks like Wigram if that's the Port Hills in the distance.

Was wondering if the fourth shot might be Taieri as the hangar door openings look a bit low for Wigram.

I would say Taieri for sure. The interior hangar structure doesn't match any air force hangar, and if you look at post # 40 on page 3 of the thread there is a photo of this aircraft outside the NAC hangar at Taieri. Photo was taken about the same time as the markings match (no fin flash, overpainted USAAF markings in 6 positions only). Photo would have been taken probably 1952 as aircraft was taken on charge by 4 (TAF) sqn in Sept 51 and written off in Feb 53. It was the only one to be painted with the later style 4 Sqn marking.

Yes, I didn't think of that but I think you're spot on there. Taieri.

OK again thanks to Geoff Soper for giving up his Saturday afternoon to help scan these. Any ideas where this is?

What a brilliant photo. Thatnks Paul, and Geoff.
I assume it's Ohakea, but what the aeroplanes in the distance are - one has a T-tail. Is it a Tristar or VC-10 or something? The other looks like a military variant of a DC-6?

Makes me wonder if it was taken at Ohakea's 21st. Heres another interesting one, no prises for guessing where this was taken.

Definitely the 21st. T tail is a 100 Sqn Victor.Other is a C-124 Globemaster. There are photos of them in my stash thread.

That loop photo is the dogs danglies! I guess that's mudflats at low tide, a stunning image!
Thanks Shorty, yes I understand now. My eyes were deceiving me.

More great photos Paul! I was looking at the loop photo over the mudflaps and it looks like they have started from a barrel roll then transitioned into the loop going by the smoke trail starting bottom left. Smooth!

Wow, those Canberra photos are really neat. Nice to see a silver trainer sneak in with the camouflaged bombers too. Is that a civil airliner in the background? It looks like a Boeing 707 or something, with possibly TWA on the tail?
