NZ1009, my guess is the Devons and Harvards would have been at Taieri for an Exercise Red Owl (the predecessor to today's Wise Owl).
The 8 devon and 8 harvard flypast at Taieri was part of the 1962 RNZAC annual pageant. The aircraft were from A flight-Harvards and B flight-Devons from No 1 FTS Wigram. I was a Staff signaller on B Flt and was the right seater in one of the Devons with Pilot John Ford. The 4 Harvards at the back were the CFS aerobatic team. As we ran in over the airfield they looped out of the formation and after the rest of us landed came back and did their display. Mastersig
Just 'discovered' this thread...wonderful collection of photos.
Can shed some light on this photo...every year the RNZAF held an 'Instructors Workshop' in which CFIs from most NZ Aero Clubs attended. Kneeling 1st on the left is Bill Coulter WAC and 3 rd from right standing against the wing is Harry Beilby MAC. Many of the other faces are familiar but just can't put names to them but when I was a teenage refueller and roustabout at the WAC at that time often saw them passing through.
Addition: Lou Day first on the right standing.

The photo of the three setting up the bush fireplace was taken in 1961 and the three (from left Andy TAMPLIN, Wayne HARRIS and Elliot WILLIS) were on 34 Aircrew Course. Andy Tamplin went to the RAF after the second phase of training and graduated there. He subsequently flew in the Middle East and later with Cathay Pacific where became a 747 captain. The other two were chopped! (I'm one of them!) Perhaps of interest is that one of the members of 34 Course was Carey Adamson who went on to be CAS the CDS.
