I find the wartime magazines and newspapers produced by or for the RNZAF of great interest.
I have the full set of 'Contact: The National Magazine of the Royal New Zealand Air Force" except for the elusive Issue One. This was by far the longest lived and best known social magazine of the RNZAF. But there were others.
For example:
The Airman - the magazine of RNZAF Stations Whenuapai and Hobsonville (I have one issue, No. 2, and it's great. I really want copies of the other ten that were printed)
Spitfire - the station monthly magazine for RNZAF Station Rongotai, Wellington
"ERKS' WORK" The Official Magazine of RNZAF Station Ohakea
"TAIONAUTICS" The Official Organ of RNZAF Station Taieri
"WINDSOCK" - The Magazine of RNZAF Station Woodbourne
'Gen' apears to have been an in-house newsletter of the RNZAF's Air Department in Wellington
Navigation News apears to have been newsletter for RNZAF Navigators
"The Corsair Courier" published for RNZAF airmen stationed in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea
Duffy's Gen was the magazine for RNZAF Station Norfolk Island
"Air Gunner" - a magazine for RNZAF Air Gunners
Octopus 8 - 8 BR Squadron newsletter
The Low Blower - 2 BR Squadron newsletter
And I have recently discovered that the following RNZAF magazines existed
"Halavo Hangover" a magazine for RNZAF personnel at RNZAF Station Halavo Bay
Tee-Emirau - An RNZAF magazine for personnel at RNZAF Staition Emirau, named after the famous RAF magazine Tee-Em
Strip Tease was a weekly humourous RNZAF news sheet produced at Emirau too, each with four foolscap sheets
If anyone here has copies of any of the above (except Contact after Issue One) I'd be interested in hearing more. Can you add any further details too?
