Wow, that is bright!! It almost makes the anti-glare panel redundant when much of the aeroplane is painted in high glare! Thats what they look like when they have just been repainted. The Day-Glo fades quite quickly and depending on how much time it spends in the sun, after two / three years it needs to be done again to keep it looking good

SAAF dog fighters in danger of being kenneled A severe funding shortfall is dogging the South African Air Force’s (SAAF) fighting ability and placing the highly expensive and capable Saab Gripen combat aircraft in danger of being mothballed. This means that, if funding levels continue at current levels, only the BAE Systems Hawk Mk120 training jets will be kept flying, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) 2009/10 annual report states. “At current funding levels, the continued retention of the combat system (Gripen) hangs in the balance and will require an intervention to prevent the loss of the required capability,” the annual report notes. It goes on to say that the Hawk and the Gripen aircraft were initially partially protected from the impact of low funding levels by system warranties being in effect. Combined with the recent cuts in the MTEF (Medium Term Expenditure Framework), the SAAF will only be able to sustain one system effectively – the Hawk.
