Yes, it seems a few people have been getting that banner. We have no control over the adverts that come up on the forum at all, they're run by Google and each advert attatches itself to a keyword. For example a lot of the banner ads are aviation related because that is what we discuss. If a thread mentions Asia we seem to get Asian dating adverts. It seems that the company who has paid for that advert has annoyingly asked for their keywords to include perhaps "Military", "Army" "Air Force" etc, so it comes up on our forum.
I don't think there's any way for us to stop it, sorry. Let's hope they go bust and their ad disappears.

I notice on PPRuNe lately there has been a banner along the top for something along the lines of air crew contact.com which seems to a dating site for pilots. No doubt in a few years there will be an albinomidgetboliviantaxidriverdating.com.

I was told by a guy in the RNZAF in 2007 that the RNZN now has a very active gay scene since it was legalised, and Navy unit commanders have to have signs on their desks saying it was a "gay-friendly area" in their office so they feel comfortable!!
Perhaps the banner people should target Navy forums.

Here is a picture of the starting of this video. It makes me go crazy as it slows the whole computer down when it starts going down, why cant they have it as a picture like all the other people! I know I have not got the latest computer but still it drives me mad every time it comes on! And why does it have to be about crashing! Cheers   |

Hear hear. It is slowing my computer right down too, and it';s worse when it's a page with vgp's multitude of videos struggling to compete with it. Plus the topic of the link is very annoying. Hopefully it will go away like other annoying ads have.

Thanks Ian. I waswn't having a dig at you, usually my computer is ok with the moving avatars - it's just when the moving adverts are competing with the avatars for memory space it all locks up. I think we'll make a rule that moving avatars can only go in the actual avatar space on the left and not the larger ones in the signature box. Everyone cool with that?

That crash ad appears all the time now and even though I use two quite new computers, it causes problems with the forum pages. Annoying to say the least.
