I like the new header when one is not logged in. The montage looks good. Only one wing over Cambridge though.

Whoops, I was doing something behind the scenes and I think I set the old skin as default. I will fix it. Do you know it was at least six months before anyone realised I had forgotten that s Joe! That was a long time ago now.

Yes, that is when I was having a tu-too behind the scenes and accidently left the wrong one showing. Hopefully I have fixed it now.

The last forum header which was uop for two days marked the achivement of Chris Bromley and Rob Burns in the record set flying in the Thunder Mustang from NZ to Australia and back, with this photo kindly supplied of their preparing to take off on that mission by Colin Hunter: The current header is also a Colin Hnter photo of the beautifully restored DH89 Dragon Rapide in Kings Flight colours restored by Avspecs at Ardmore for Jerry Yagen, which recently returned to the air.

Anyone know when the Dragon is leaving NZ? Would be good to see it at Wanaka in a couple of weeks. Now Avspecs can turn their attention to the Mossie!

It's not staying in NZ, it is being shipped to Jerry Yagen's collection at Virginia Beach, where it will appear at his airshow in May, along with the Rapide and several other classics in his collection. At lewast someone has bought it who will ensure it's flown and will educate the public, and where it will be loved.

The current forum header is in my opinion an amazing photo taken in World War One of the graves of RAF aircrew members who were killed near the end of the war. Note their crosses are made from the propellors of aircraft, an incredibly neat idea. And the prop hubs each have a plate with an inscription on them. This photo came from the collection of a famous WWI New Zealand pilot, courtesy of my friend Richard Stowers. I thought it would make a nice aviation themed ANZAC tribute for April.

Is the first prop a pusher? or is there some other reason it has a reversed pitch (ie American vs English)

Hi Dakman. That Electra header was just a filler and there's a new one up there now showing the pilots of No. 1 Squadron, New Zealand Air Force (Territorial), flying over the Auckland region in the early 1930's in both NZPAF and Auckland Aero Club DH60 Moth aircraft.
I am keen to add more Dakota headers in the future - especially historical photos - but I don't have many decent photos. If you'd like to submit some nice shots for me to use, please feel free to.
