Thats an interesting lineup in the photo Dave. I'm trying to decide it if thats a Friendship poking its nose into the shot? I think it must be as it looks like its wing is peering over the rear fuse of the TA4K.

Nice pic Dave. It looks like a kind of Air Force Museum line up of the future, although they didn't keep any Friendships for the Museum did they? Very nice all the same :-)

I'm glad you chaps like it. It is not often you see Harvards of No. 21 (AC) Squadron.

What an awesome Harvard! This bird just screams for a Flight Simulator repaint. Any more details on the camo scheme? I'm presuming RAF dark green / dark earth / pale blue (or sky?)? This "wavey" demarcation line to the lower paint looks interesting too. What does the 'AC' of 21 Sq. stand for? Any additional information helping me to make the repaint as accurate as possible would be highly appreciated! Cheers, Markus.

Hi Markus, the 'AC' stands for Army Co-operation. The RNZAF had four dedicated AC squadrons, No's 6, 20, 21 and 22 Squadrons, although No. 6 was actually split in half to form No's 20 and 21 Sqns so there were really only three operational at one time. No's 6, 20 and 21 each flew Hawker Hinds and No. 22 Squadron flew Vincents. They also got Harvards to replace their Vincents, as seen in the header. I am wondering if others carried Disney cartoons, as Charles Darby's book RNZAF: The First Decade shows NZ1029 UY-L on page 44 with Pinnochio in the same position as Mickey Mouse n this photo, and the words 'Joan II'.
Charles wrote in the book that NZ1029 was coloured dark green, Pacific blue and sky. The UY on NZ1029 was white with the L in sky, but in the NZ1023 and NZ1027 photo, it looks like all the codes are sky. That wavey demarkation between top and bottom colours appeared on a number of RNZAF aircraft at that time.

Thank you for these details, Dave! Do you have any idea about the lettering on the right side of Mickey's head? This green/blue camo sure looks nice: Early wip shots, still a lot to do... Cheers, Markus.

Hi Marcus That looks fantastic! Which Harvard/T6 model are you using and is it for FSX? I had one of the Freeware ones but the sound wasn't very satisfying. Cheers Baz
Edit: I notice the Harvard shown must be a MK 2 or similar as the rearmost canopy is the early style. You can see the extra framing in the simulated photo compared with the Header photos which are of Harvard 2A.

I wonder that two, and wonder if the squadron named their Hinds.

Hi, Baz! Which Harvard/T6 model are you using and is it for FSX? It's the Alphasim payware "Six", available here: www.alphasim3.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=195Dunno if it works in FSX... Well, Alphasim provides a Mk. IIb and a Mk. IV model (besides several Texans and SNJs), so some compromises must be taken... @ Dave: Thanks for pointing me to "Josephine". I wonder if I'd get into any trouble with the Disney Company's lawyers when applying this mouse to the repaint... The canopy frame (and several other parts) of course has to be painted. I took my abandoned NZ1015 repaint as a base for this one. The work continues... Thanks for your support, guys! Cheers, Markus.

Hi Markus Yes I thought later that the MK 2B has the same fixed rear canopy as the earlier MK2. Mind you we did get 3 Canadian built MK2B Harvards (NZ1100,1101 and 1102) and 2 of them (mostly) survive. You could do a repaint of one of them ha ha. ;D
