Congrats. Many happy landings - you probably won't need to take off today (to be flyin'). ;D

Well done, did you find it was nothing like the last hour of beating the circuit, did it climb better one up and not want to come down. When did you realise you were alone, when I did mine, in a cherokee, it wasn't till down wind when i had a bit of time and there was no one in the next seat, sound stupid I know

Very well done! You are officially a pilot. No buts or maybes. Mine was Tomahawk ZK-EIU at Omaka on June 17th 1990. Vivid memories and not something I'll forget easily.

My solo was in Cherokee 140 EBB at West Melton. While downwind I kept on looking over at the empty seat. When I got flying again after a 9 year gap I so wanted to fly EBB again but she had crashed (with no loss of life thank goodness!)while I had been away.

Yes it was weird flying on my own; I tried not to think about it, but without the other person the Coyote took off like a rocket, I do remember seeing the right stick moving on it’s own normally it is hidden by the instructors leg, down wind I had to throttle back quite a bit as it just wanted to climb away, and saying the downwind checks out loud on my own was weird too but that’s how I do them, still very excited and looking forward to the next fine days flying

My first solo was a glider , and I spent most of the pre takeoff time telling myself I could still pull out . ( think my instructor had more faith in me than I did ) . Had a wee oops when I went to realease , but otherwise went fine . To be honest it was a pretty frightening 8 minutes . First powered solo was 2 years latter in 82 ( like you Al , behind the controls of a Tomahawk at Omaka -- except mine was EQH ) and even though Id only been at the controls 8 times in total , ever , it was much much less frightening than the glider . I do totally agree , its a very odd feeling when you have only ever had someone sitting beside you , then suddenly hes not there ( or behind you in the case of the glider )
