Ooh, tedium... usually my forte' ;D My attempts 2. Who were the first people to fly from North Cape to Bluff in a single day, and whats the connection with this forum? Teddie Harvie (on my website as a Cambridge airman) and his friend Miss Trevor Hunter5. Other than NAC and SPANZ, which was the only other airline to use DC3s for scheduled passenger services in NZ? I agree with Corsair, Mount Cook Airlines9. In TEAL / Air NZ history (but not NAC) how many aircraft have been destroyed in crashes? Two? I know of the Erebus one and one at Mangere 10. where was the main base for Union Airways prewar? Milson, Palmerston North? Or was that during the war?Hmm, some tricky questions. Now that the guesses off the top of my head are done, I might get my books out.

3. Ansett
5. To clarify, the DC-3 was flown by Mount Cook & Southern Lakes Tourist Co. Ltd.
Actually the RNZAF also flew scheduled passenger services as a psuedo airline before NAC was established, but not being civil I guess they don't count. SPANZ also flew DC-3's under the guise of Airlines of New Zealand

O.K some right so far - well done guys! #2 Ted Harvey and Trevor Hunter - yep the Cambridge link is correct #3 Ansett #4 Bennett Airtruck #5 Mt Cook and southern Lakes Tourist Co (I'd accept mt cook airlines - Airlines of NZ and SPANZ were the same company - the title linked through to Ansett and "Airlines of NSW" etc) #10 Milson Palmerston North. (athough the company was registered in Dunedin as a division of the Union Steamship co)
Thats half of them sorted - as a suggestion, have a scan of "History of NZ Aviation" by Ross Ewing and Ross Mcpherson - you'll find a few answers in there.....
I have some more questions ready - I may post them next week......

Well done - the only thing is that ZK-AMM was destroyed in a fire during ground servicing, so probably couldnt be termed a crash, however Teal / AirNZ did still lose 4 aircraft, Losing an F27 Friendship (after the merger with NAC) in 1978 on final approach into Mangere after a positioning flight. Excellent work though everyone - Exalted Karma to you all.....
