OOpps, sorry about that Dave. It says "Members of the Christchurch (Territorial) Squadron of the RNZAF working on the squadron's Blackburn baffin at Wigram in April, 1939."

Thanks Ken. Any idea if that is from the Press or the Star? I'd like to trace the negative if Wigram doesn't have it, for my book that covers these guys in this squadron.

Dave, we only used to get the Press delivered at our place so there's a fairly good chance that it's from the Press, however our father's parents used to get only the Star so it might be from there. My first bet would be on the Press though. As I got older and more clued up I started to keep the piece with the date and newspapers name on as I cut these things out.

Those photos were in "The Press" on page 28 on Thursday July 21 1977. (Not the first clipping) They appeared on a photo page labelled "Old Wings over Wigram's runways"

Thanks Shorty. I wondered about that. I think the first clipping relates to the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Permanent Air Force so these other ones relate to the 50th anniversary of the formation of the RNZAF?

1977 is the 40th Anniversary of the RNZAF Ken. 1987 was the 50th.

I know that the title of this thread is 1973 Wiram Airshow, but I found some of my pictures of Wings and Wheels day in December 1981. I hope that it is OK to post them here. Harvard Devon Avenger T11 Vampire C130 Sorry tht the last two are a bit more blurry. Skyhawks. RAAF Mirage

This one came from the 1981 Wings and Wheels as well. It is an Airshow hardy annual that goes: If the car that is blocking the exit from the carpark is not moved in 10 minutes, we will take matters into our own hands. 10 minutes later the car appears suspended under helicopter, and then, whoops sorry we dropped it. it certainly flattens the car. Nice historic photos there. The one labeled F111 looks more like a Mirage III though.

Right hardyakka. So long ago and I was in the RNZAF. I remember the Skyhawk replacement debacle and should have known better. I had it labelled as F111 in my album, but looked at it twice, because it did not ring true

Yes, I remember that show. We were on course at the time and I recall spending most of the day on duty at one of the gates on Springs Road. (Which was more enjoyable than defending Weedons from the protesters around that era 73/74?). Will look up any photos. Now, there was another great Harvard flypast in 1977. May have been the decommissioning of the Harvard. Anyone remember that one? I had landed on board the shuttle from Ohakea and was on the ramp when the formation flew over.
