There was a British Airways 747 in the static park on Sunday Morning from memory, you could walk all around it, but it was taken out of the enclosure mid morning. now that was a big aircraft!. The IL76 was based in auckland at the time with the short - lived Pacific Express air freight. It carried the Harrier to and from NZ. Gotta Love the special IL-76 shaped towbar too!

The BA 747 makes sense. They used to operate to Brisbane and on to London on Sundays. Given that I live in Brisbane, it was quite fortuitous that I captured all these aeroplanes. I was visiting a relative in Auckland and I didn't even know there was an airshow on. He also took me to see the Albatross alighting on the harbour but unfortunately we were too far away for any useful photos. In addition to photographing all of the above, I also shot two aeroplanes which ultimately gravitated to the collection of the Queensland Air Museum, Heron VH-KAM and F.27 ZK-RTA. This is why I figure it's only a matter of waiting patiently until the Albatross arrives!

I knew I had some somewhere (must fix this b****y scanner at some stage) ..... I have a feeling that this type of aircraft may have been mentioned once or twice on the forum One of the more memorable formations I've seen ... Very memorable air show for two reasons: 1. Probably one of the best I've been to. 2. My daughter, Tatiana, was born on the 8th of November of that year (and I was still allowed to go to the air show). Cheers, Stu.

Nice shots Stu, and I think from the angle of one of them, I was standing very near-by!

Was a good airshow. My father flew the 747 200 display but was cut short due to ATC issues with other aeroplanes. I had my first ride in a GA aeroplane that day....a Trinadad......GA aircraft I flew went rapidly down in quality over the new few years! My mother was offered a ride in the T28 and turned it down that day!!! Still cant believe that! Would be great to see some Russian aircraft here again on display...maybe the Malayians can be convinced to bring a SU27 down! haha
