A lovely sound indeed Stu. I caught her on the apron before take off and thought I would have time to go over the other side to get some helicopters training. My first outing taking my grand daughter spotting as Heather was a bit off colour and needed a break. She was so good doing all the things she should until the last few shots of the helicopters and then I turned around and cheeky raspberry! We did hear the take off but alas I was still driving as DAK rumbled over head and what a glorious sound! Just to show Jacqueline can be very helpful this is her helping Grandma (Heather) decorate the tree earlier in the week. Weather looks great for the week end...... WHOOPEE

Has anyone taken any shots of the new control tower being constructed at CHC? Graham Weatherby sent me these shots: Many thanks Graham and look forward to seeing more as it progresses. Cheers

I have mentioned to some people about this open day and they wanted to know where to meet so have taken some photos for easy identification for those unfamiliar of where the Thunder Mustang resides. Left hand side of pic "meet here" and an overall shot showing the warbirds hangar. TMG out on the apron. See you there. Colin

Nice to see UA back in NZ skies, albeit for a short time. Yes a short time indeed as FJK was back on the job today. Still FJL goes in for maintenance in the new year so maybe UA will be back for a short stint again. Hawaiian here for maintenance. Regular Korean visitor taxis for take off. Singapore taxis for take off. FJK touching down for the first time since coming back from maintenance. Taxing for take off. Cathay 747 B-HUG was on the job today. A nice day for spotting or doing whatever you liked today. Nice suntan to go with it. Colin

Blimey, I've never seen that one before. Where is Awhitu? Awhitu is on the Awhitu Peninsula and about a half hours drive from Waiuku. The ARC Awhitu Regional Park is just a few metres from the old Bristol Freighter on RHS.(marker with A in it on map) From down on the beach you can look across to Auckland International Airport. www.arc.govt.nz/parks/our-parks/parks-in-the-region/awhitu/The place marked Matakawau on the map is where I lived as a youngster and into my teenage years. It used to take almost an hour from there to Waiuku on a metal road for half the journey so times have certainly changed since the 1950s. Cheers, Colin

Karioitahi Beach was very nice last Friday evening. We were lucky to have a gift voucher for one night at Castaways Lodge and the views out over the sea were breathtaking. www.castaways.co.nz/pages/home.htmThe weather treated us well as I am sure it gets very windy there at times. Colin

Interesting thread, and now to confuse you all! ;D
ZK-ARH is me using my first name. Which happens to be a very rare aircraft?
ZK-ACH is a non event.
ZK-AKH is a non event also.
Yes i have three christian names and Colin is not the first but my preferred choice all my life.
Cheers
