I don't recall an 18 % rise in remuneration, what I recall was the our super, which previously had NOT been included as part of our total remuneration, was added to create our 'TFR' figure (Total Fixed Remuneration). Oddly enough at 17.9%.
So it wasn't an increase at all, it was simply including the money we had always been paid and making it a more visible component. On paper it looked like a whopping pay rise but it was simply changing the way the pay was structured.

The 'MkX' is the correct seat. The A version is for the tornado as it has an extra pipe running along the side of the headbox, and the b version is for early hawks (pre '85ish) as it has the flared head box.
Sorry I can't recall the dia, but it was evergreen tubing, the inside dia being about right for the light in the nose. Sorry I can't recall the length either, I eyeballed it using a few side on drawings and photos, comparing to reference points in the fuselage to get the proportion correct, ie finding something known on the aircraft that was the same dimension I was looking for. In 72nd scale it's not too difficult, but I made sure I got the resin conversion set for the 48th scale one I have in the stash.

www.neomega-resin.com/seats.htmE16/72 about half way down on the left. I cut the original nose off, then cut a piece of plastic tube the correct length and glued that in place. I then built up the nose with milliput and sanded it to the final shape. I also polished the canopy with micromesh as it's quite thick and not especially clear, then dunked it in Johnsons Klear.

Basically that's all that needs doing, although I'd also rescribe the horrible lumpy panel lines. Dropping the flaps is another fairly easy thing that will make it look a bit better on the ground.
As for the cockpit, I the seats that come with the kit are a bit odd looking, the headboxes are huge. I'd suggest getting a couple of MB Mk10s from Neomega.

It is absolutely nothing compared to the PRC's thief of data from the US DOD (I believe its averaging an attack a week). I think you'll find it's about 1000 times that.

I agree there are some like that, I know a certain Model shop in my old town whos owner would often flat out tell you something didn't exist or wasn't available, even when I'd already researched it and was happy to give him my business rather than ordering over the net. This was especially true when he had a similar kit in stock! So off to the net I'd go and get the kit that 'didn't exist'. But others like Modelcrafts and Hobbies are usually very helpful and will get something in for you if they can.

I recall being told when I was in that not long before I joined they realised there were too many Sergeants nad so busted loads of them back to Corporal, doing the same job. I'll bet they wouldn't do that with the Wing Co's though. Reversion in rank is a bit popular right now, especially with WOs reverting to FS. Still happens at the WGCDR level too, I can think of at least one.

Blimey, Sergeant Major General, bit confusing. Bloody army, almost as odd as the navy. At least the Air Force had enough brains to sort things out properly when they formed up. So remind me which rank is CO of a (Air Force) squadron? That depends on the SQN, 3, 5, 6, 40 and some some others are Wing commanders (or equivalent in the case of 6) , smaller units are normally SQNLDRs.

The memorial gardens at Ohakea (by the old museum) were also ripped up by contractors.

The airfix Seasprite is 1/72 (it was the Matchbox/Revell offering that was 1/48), and Fujimi have done the Wasp in both scales.
