Well done, Gavin. You know how lucky you are but what I really want to say is thank you for taking the time to share some of your experiences on here (and FB).
Time to start readying yourself for the next Mossie to get under your skin!

“ Boy” was a brilliant movie too. Absolutely. One of my favourites.

I bet there was someone at ARCo, having painted on the Finnish markings, having a damn good chuckle to themselves. I have to admit to appreciating the 'tip of the hat' to the Finns more than anything else.

Yes, the number of people on Facebook, full of experts as it is, who started banging on about the Germans made me want to bang my head against the wall.

Hi Ian
The "THIS airliner (it's up for sale)" refers to an African-based DC-6. Click on "THIS" as it is a hotlink to another website.

Our fireplace filled the neighbour's entire yard with smoke yesterday for about 5 minutes. It's a good thing they were not home and had no washing out. It was like a smoke screen till I shut the Kent fire's door and it stopped billowing over the fence into their yard. Today it's a bit warmer, windier and wetter and the whole atmosphere is damp and miserable. Bring back the crisp frosts for the weekend please! Hooligan!

It'd be a rarer sight to see a DC-6 fly than four Corsairs these days! LOL.
Man, I love big propliners. Did anyone see the DC-7 start up on Facebook on the Round Engines Forever page? So much smoke and oh so lovely.
And that's why Ice Pilots is my favourite show! I do get a tad excited when the 4-pack is on ... but then the excitement levels are usually already high with the DC-3s, C-46s, Electras and CL-215s. Can't wait to see the HARS DC-4 fly when she's ready.

Watch Come Live With Me, a Jimmy Stewart film, and you'll see what all the fuss was about.

Is the A-26 Invader still at Archerfield? I have seen it once or twice from about 3000' as we join the ILS for runway 01 at Brisbane. It's an old firebomber that I've heard is for sale. Did ground runs and, I think, moved under its own power (?) last week. Getting there. New owner is based in South Oz.

Another return from the blasters. A big step. Thank you all again for your donations. As I said above the goal has been reached but the surplus is going to the rare Mk I turret and then the centre section. Further donations through the current Kickstarter effort gratefully received. Onwards!

Happy days! For those of you following this fundraising effort, and the project in general, you will have noticed the A$5,000 goal has been reached and exceeded by 10% already. All excess funds, for which the museum is eternally grateful, will be put to the next steps of the restoration - the turret and the centre section of the fuselage. The part marked above as going in for a test blast has returned completed and primed and looks stunning. There's something about aircraft parts in primer that just warms the cockles off my heart. Maybe it's just me. More photos to come and I've still got to post the aircraft's movement card. www.kickstarter.com/projects/moorabbinairmuseum/raaf-beaufort-a9-13-restoration?

Here's a few photos of some early work underway. The fundraising is going well with a touch over half of the initial goal of $5,000 raised. Things have slowed down a bit so any help is very much appreciated.
Spare rear section from A9-574. This will provide parts as needed.
Section removed for test blast. Before and after shot of another part that was test blasted. This is Brad. He likes cosy nights in and small dark spaces. He's a bit odd. Nah, just kidding. This is the museum's other fundraising venture - a Beaufort kissing booth. It's not going well...

The only quality fabric man - only fabric man - I know is Lyn Forster but he's in Melbourne and I haven't spoken to him for some time. He is retired, I believe, or working part-time (like I said, it's been a while). Should be able to get in touch with him via Tyabb Aero Club or Old Aeroplane Company if necessary.
No help at all, sorry.
