Always wanted to do an RNZAF P-40 so I'll make a start. I may as well just follow the instructions... Cockpit assemblies: I.P. Air intake.

Some cockpit detail. The Tinyland belts aren't bad.

My original plan to do a straight forward shake-n-bake build is now in tatters. A brief glance in the box shows surface detail inside the flap area, which is great as I want to drop the flaps. A careful look shows this detail as being representational only. Not only that but there is no detail on the upper part and a big hole inside the fuse. Oh well, out with the Evergreen... and a sharp knife:

Great work here Keith. I am impressed by your modifications to the tail group and the work on the flaps.

Thanks Anthony. OOB went out the window pretty quickly with this one. I'll see if I can find an easy one to do later in the year. I've been really wrestling with the instrument panel with this kit, just can't seem to get the swing of the kit decals. This is the final attempt which I will glue in before I destroy it.

Flap and wing detailing is now complete and ready for paint. Due to the extreme "tail down"" posture of these planes, the detailing inside the wing does not have to be perfect. You guys could quite possibly be the only ones who will ever see it.

Initially, I stated that this is a "terrific" kit and to be fair, it's pretty darn good. But although the detailing is very good indeed, it seems to suffer from some niggling fit issues. For example, you can see in the previous post I inserted a small plastic sliver to fill a gap in the lower rear fuselage. There are little things like this all over this kit making it more work than it should be. Anyway... Some more cockpit shots: And a shot from above showing off those lovely Hungarian PE harness'.

Major construction is now complete. There's still quite a bit of tidying up to do - parts of this kit don't fit well at all - and some of it fits together beautifully. Here's a quick mock up...

Have done a little bodywork and some painting: I'm bidding on a prop and an engine as we speak.
