A few cans on Inox is not expensive and helps a lot to slow corrosion.

A few cans on Inox is not expensive and helps a lot to slow corrosion. I agree Mike. I use heaps of the stuff and have been buying it from Supercheap Auto. I normally pay about $85 for the 5 litre and it comes with a squirt bottle.

Yes Inox was great on bits off the Auster still in storage. Good piece of mind.

Unfortunately cash is very, very tight hence CBG having to wait so long for her time in the sun. Alex - I'll drop you a PM with my email :-)

For some reason I can’t find Inox on Supercheap’s website - I found this, however, on Repco’s and the 5l with spray bottle is on special for $170! Is this the right stuff? www.repco.co.nz/en/oils-fluids/greases-lubricants/lubricants/inox-mx3-lubricant-5l/p/A1066204

That is the right stuff but it is way overpriced. Typical rep I ripoff. Spray cans are about $20 and 5 litre around $120. Try the inox site for other stores in your region.

On Heartland channel 17 there is a program called encounter about NZ aviation recorded probably in the mid 70s early 80s. There is a good shot of CBG landing in James colours as a 400. On again today at 430 pm Anyone have any suggestions as to where one might find a copy of this programme? Google and YouTube haven't been helpful.

Bill Parkes, who flew for Eastland Contracts, has sent me a parcel of photos and a DVD of about 15m of ZK-CBG at work, filmed on March 19 1991 near Pourerere. It's been a wonderful, inspirational experience to finally see and hear CBG in action!

Inox is currently just $47 for 5 litres (plus squirt bottle) at Supercheap Auto. A few stores are still showing stock. this is normally retailing for $105 to about $140 elsewhere. Eastgate and Ashburton in Canterbury are two I know of. ***EDIT*** Eastgate now sold out. Further edit. This stuff sold quickly, the only store I can see that is now showing stock is Ashburton. www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/inox-dewatering-fluid---5l/0552.html

Thanks for the heads-up Baron, unfortunately I'm not in a position to get any even at that price. CBG waits patiently for my plans to come together!

In the interim, Photobucket went crazy so I've re-posted my photos via Flickr. I also received more video of CBG at work, this time from Des Smith: I'm now working again (albeit only casual, on-call) but have some irons in the fire. I expect I will finally, seriously, for-real-this-time get started on CBG in 2022! I'm going to write down a plan of action, list the materials and tools needed, and seek some covered working space. Stay tuned, same Fletcher time, same Fletcher channel! Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr

Nice to see Zac. Doesn't matter if to be static or airworthy such a project involves a massive amount of work and commitment

Also, if you can't find the Inox, try Dinitrol by Ardrox; a fave of the aviation industry, but is is expensive. I've been advised CRC 5-56 Marine will do about the same job for far cheaper, so I'm leaning toward that at the moment. That said, I visited the local TradeZone outlet and they can get Inox MX3 for me.

Dunno how different 5.56 Marine is to regular 5.56, but regular 5.56 is pretty useless for medium to long term corrosion prevention, despite being advertised as 'protecting metals from corrosion'.

Thanks Alex, it was a recommendation from a forum member further up the page!

Here we go Zac Finally gotten around to digging out my old Ag albums, crikey these were early 1981 when Robin left James to become an owner-operator. That's me in the first pic (back when stubbies were in fashion ) Pretty sure Des Smith was his loadie then. Pics taken at Waipukurau airfield.

Superb, thank you so much!!
Poor CBG has remained in the weather at my parents' place as I've not had the means to get her undercover and I've been hesitant to do any work while she's outside. Given my imminent move down south I'm not sure what the future holds for her.
