A much nicer looking boat than the Queen Victoria, but getting on a bit now... QE2 of course is also a Falklands war veteran, at one time she had a helipad over the swimming pool deck.

Lovely photos again Colin. The QE2 sure looks much more aesthetic than the QV. Where was the Black Watch from? It would be unusual to see an ocean liner painted grey like that? Looks rather military.

Thanks Joe. Black Watch is now owned by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. It started life as Royal Viking Star in 1972 till 1991. It has an interesting history and has been in the news over the years. Wikipedia has a good run down on it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Watch_%28ship%29Cheers, Colin PS Joe the photo is in shadow hence its grey look other photos on the net show it whiter in bright sunlight.

Nice photo Ron. Interesting to see some of the changes on the Auckland waterfront. The QE2 appears to have had a funnel change at some point.

In case anyone is wondering, there is an aviation connection. My photo was taken from Air New Zealand House.

She still looks prettier than that block of flats that is replacing her.
