Very nostalgic. The F-27 looks massive next to the Rapide.
I guess you mean the first scheduled civilian stop in Hamilton? I'm sure the transport aircraft of No's 40, 41 and 42 Squadrons made many planned passenger stops into Rukuhia prior to that, when it was an RNZAF station. Especially the Rapides that flew the SATS route.

Yea, I do mean first Civilian stop. I have started my NAC DC3, and have bought a DH Heron off trademe, which should be coming in, in the next day or so, So my NAC collection will be growing. I just need a fox moth, Loadster, electra, and a 737 and i'll have them all... Can you get a 1/72 electra?

A quick glance on google, shows that electra model 12's are made by Special Hobby, who, fortunately also make a civil version of the Loadster in 1/72. I'll have to do some saving. The 737-200 also comes in 1/72 from Arura. They are getting rare and expensive though...

Very nice Friendship. Now all you need is her alter ego in RNZAF markings!

Absolutely love the F27 NAC model, and great that Bruce reproduced his one as the same aeroplane later in life. From where did you obtain the decals?

I found them on the net, and basically used them as a guide to make my own, and then printed them onto decal paper...

I have no idea who manfactured it. I could easilly be tempted to sell it to someone who has a need for it. Paul

Very nice work on both Friendships. I purchased the recent release also wanting to do a NAC machine, however seeing the mix we have above maybe I should plug the air nz gap...
I have the 1/72 sale lodestar in my stash, it is a very good kit with lots of parts including etch and resin. Mine is to be converted into a loadstar though (I am sure much to the horror of some) as BVE in the blue and red airland scheme. This kit is a bit pricey (I think I paid about $70 aussie) but worth it.
Great work on the NAC decals too, I was looking for some artwork and images and was struggling, it appears you might be the man with the info!
cheers Mike

What is the difference between a Lodestar and a Loadstar? I always assumed the latter was just a typo. Is that the actual designation of the topdressing version??

I would expect Loadstar to be a colloquialism rather than an official designation Dave, but I'm sure we have someone on the forum who will know more.
I get a real kick out of seeing your NAC models ams888, you've really inspired me to get my A into G and pick up an Airfix F-27 - the original red and white scheme calls out to me...

Loadstar was as Zac mentions a colloquialism for the topdressing conversions. I don't know if it was ever adopted but I know it was marketed so as farmers would appreciate the 3.5 ton load it could deliver. Officially the aircraft would have all been C-60 Lodestars.

Interesting. I never knew that. I have seen people spell it that way when referring to the military version which is obviously a typo but it's neat to know it's unofficially accurate when referring to the topdressing variant.
If anyone ever wonered why it's spelled Lodestar, the word refers to a star used for navigation - usually the North Star but not necessarily. And a Lode is a seam or vein of metal ore in the ground, seen in mines.
