I saw the Dak come in on Sunday whilst trying to find the Citabria I was supposed to go flying in (I eventually caught up with it at TeKowhai - Andrew (Citabria) can tell that story...) certainly well worth taking a flight in!

Thanks Dave, there is just something so "right" about the shape of the DC-3. Maybe its because I've been looking at them for 50-odd years (!) but they look (and sound) good to me from every angle. I have a vivid memory of lying on my back in the long grass as a kid on the farm, watching one fly over from Rukuhia ... ah, memories ...

A great aircraft and a great crew - a true icon and well worth a flight To me, there's a certain magic that no modern airliner can capture and I second your endorsement. Thanks for sharing the photos as well. Cheers, Stu.

Thanks Chris, It was such a pleasure to meet you...and we really like to meet all the Forum team. A great day - including checking local Waikato boy F/Officer James Langley to Line on the DC-3.

Is that the one that used to be in D Day colours ZK-WAR?

Yes it used to be in D Day colours but has always been ZK-DAK in NZ. ZK-WAR is a Harvard, which was in camouflage but is now in the US Navy white and orange scheme.

Whoops - my mind said DAK, my fingers typed WAR. This is where I mention that I've been a passenger in both?!
