A Swiss millionaire have received a speeding fine for 200,000 euros for driving his Ferrari through a Swiss village at more than 100 kilometres per hour.
It is the highest ever traffic fine. Fines in Switzerland are related to the income of the perpetrator. The Ferrari driver has a fortune of more that 15 million euros.
The previous record speeding fine was for over 74,000 euroswww.rnw.nl/english/article/swiss-millionaire-receives-record-speeding-fine

And yes I know 'have' should be 'has' but this is how it was on the article. Apparently in Sweden a speeding fine is based on the perpertrator's income. it would be stiff bikkies if I got stopped there, wouldn't be worth much to them!

Hmm, that seems a bit excessive but a good system to penalise the rich more I guess. If it were a mere 100 Euro fine he'd have learned nothing from it.

I still believe it's fairer that you get fined for the speed you were doing, regardless of your income/financial worth.

Yeah, but if it was based on both it might be fairer still.

Hi all was the offence committed in Switzerland or Sweden?? Very likely the two countries have similar laws here in NZ reckon the driver would have lost his car for a while and learn from it

Yep here I think here it would be an automatic lose of licence and vehicle for 28 days as well as a dangerous driving charge .

Wimp! I confess to once haven test ridden a bike that showed 300 on the speedo . Latter tests suggest the speedo was a little optomistic , and was most likely a reasonably sedate 285 or so . ( For those not familiar with motorcycle performance , this bike ccould easily break the open road speed limit in first gear - and there is 6 ! ) Yep , whimp ! ;D

hi guys once worked with a guy based at Ohakea He said that the runway was often used for speed tests so perhaps the 300 speed was achieved in this way and not on a public road ha also mentioned some speeds achieved were higher than A4K lift off
Wonder if they put up the now obsolete arrestor gear ?? to help braking ?

Hi Shorty thanks for your post re speeding the reason I asked was because there is still a bit of confusion here in NZ between Sweden Switzerland?? Not the Same Countries Worked for the Swedish Embassy in NZ for many years and this mix up with states happened often

It's the same in Finland, I beleive. Wasn't there a case there, where a Nokia Exec. was fined $175,000 for excessive speed?
Yes Lumpy, I know what you mean.....I have seen 275kph, whilst "testing" the stability of my Ventura packs, down Ohakune way (GSXR1000K4) when I was touring down to Wellington a while ago, and the standard 299kph indicated on the Puke back straight.... it's so easy to do..........

Wow 275kph. How did the Suzuki handle at that speed? and with a Ventura pak........ A bike rider in NSW got jailed for I think 6 months when he got pick up at around the 200ks

The earlier model Falcon XR6 had a speed chip that activated at 190kph.Basically the engine turns off.The 1st time it happened to me I thought I had blown the engine but it comes back up after u drop back to around 140. The Mk3 version didnt cut out until 235.Ah those were the days.Howick to Petone in around 6 hours. And back that night not much more. Drive a 4wd SR5 now at much lesser speeds as its too dangerous nowadays! and I dont have to do 80000km/year anymore.Amazing I never had an accident in 30 years.

Long deserted straight road....fine mid afternoon summers day.....absolutely no one around.......what's a boy to do! I piked at that speed because I had visions of mr plod coming around the distant corner and I am, basically, a law abiding chap...........
