Where is this on the airport Beag's? As an off the cuff guess, it could be a new hangar to replace the paint shop/apprenticeship hangar that got dropped to make way for the new Regional Terminal...

Squark2K the hangar that was taken down for the new Regional Lounge was the # 2 Hangar that was used for storage, The Paint/Training Hangar (#4 Hangar) is still there at this stage but I think this new ediface may be going to replace it or maybe just the Paint Hangar side of it?. Will try to find out when at work next week. The building you can see just to the right of the photo is the Western end of the ANZ Number 1 Hangar and just to the right is where the ANZ Flying club Hangar is located by the Macrocara trees in the background. Photo taken looking Nth/Nth West from in front of the Christchurch Engine Centre building was it Beags? Cheers Bazza

Cheers b-boeing,
I don't walk past that part of the airport now that Staff carpark 3 has been requisitioned for the terminal contractors.... Can now visualise where the new construction is.

Just back from a CHC flight, I tried to sneak a peak at any new construction during the turnaround but couldn't see it. Any idea where it is in relation to the Intl terminal?

Hi Haughtney1, you probably cannot see it from the International Terminal but it would have been visible from your seat in the front of the 777 on your arrival into CHC. The top may possibly be seen on taxi from Gate 34 but it is not a very tall building so may be hidden behind the LSG buildings. Were you into CHC yesterday Haughtney1? Cheers Bazza

It's next to the AirNZ No.1 hangar which is abeam the threshold of RWY20. North of the Intl terminal/Deep Freeze Apron.

No Bazza, it was a few days ago. We do DXB-BKK-SYD-CHC-SYD-DXB, which is a 9 day trip all told...you kind of lose track of the days, but it was about 3-4 days ago. Will have another look next trip....the new twr looks cool BTW, been nearly 10 years since I operated last into NZCH in anger, the place kinda hasn't changed a lot, but it also has...if that makes any sense at all!

You get a great view from the top of the tower as well Haugtney1 and it gives you a good overview of the new constructions going on with the new Integrated Terminal building and the new Regional Lounge. If you have any time during your turnarounds you should try and get a look up there. The tower staff are only too happy to show off their new flash Tower. Cheers Bazza

The new construction is confirmed as a Warehouse. No provision for aircraft entry and/or ramp access.

Do you mean a warehouse, or The Warehouse?

I think a warehouse there Dave, not the actual "The Warehouse" Mind you they are doing ground work for a large business park just south of the roundabout by the spitfire. Maybe they might put a "Warehouse" there. They are popping up everywhere nowadays. Even out here in Rolleston they are opening a new one next month, plus we are getting a Mc Donalds by the end of the year, just off the main road south.
