Todays camera ship and the subjects in the background. A sixth was already on the ground. It is great to have so many people willing to get together to make flights like this happen. Thank you to you all!!!! Was one hell of a view from where I was sitting. Here is a link to some footage I got. More to follow!!

Great footage Gavin, looking forward to more soon. It gives a great impression of what you have to cope with when trying to get good air to air 'still' shots. Especially timing, such as around 24-28 secs in when the Hueys are in perfect echelon formation. (Have I got my terminology right? It's been a while).

They did fly pretty well Sometimes photos of big formations will either look great or not too good but from the ones I have looked at so far they look good. Yip, having to wait for the right time to take the photo is important, firing off lots and hoping it works out often fails so a bit of patience is needed sometimes. Waiting in the hover.

Great photos as always Gav. The tailboom gets a lot of soot from the exhaust doesn't it! Love the fun shot of the guys. Were they humming the Topgun theme? ;D

The haze was a problem at times with so many helicopters at once but some quick moves by the 500D worked out well.

Great photos Gavin, I like that group photo. Most of the crew members are older guys I notice, are there no new pilots and crewmen coming through these days?

Never got a chance to speak to him everyone was flat out getting aircraft etc ready. Dave, Blackbird is held over two weeks and two crew rotations attend so plenty of newer pilots have the chance to attend. Rhys Postlewaight sent me this photo last night and its a cracker. Great to see and thank you very much Rhys. The 500D looks tiny compared to the Huey.

Wow, that is indeed a beaut shot. Is that taken from one of the Iroquois doors or from the ground?
I reckon that the RNZAF's fleet of Iroquois look better now than they ever have in any previous period of their 45 years of service. It must be the glossy paint.
