This is the first of three for the guy I mentioned earlier.
Accurate Miniatures mold from Italeri. Altogether an awesome kit. I was on a tight sched, finished it in 2 wk 6 days. Since I visit Rottenrua four days a month for the CAD design course I thought I'd drop it back at the next tutorial.
It certainly tests the organisational and building sklls.
Removed the molded harness and replaced with copper wire.
Yes, I know the crew names are wrong-way-round. In the throes of decalling I completely forgot to check refs. Peter Mossong kindly pointed out the discrepancy after all was sealed and finished.
The aerial wire is courtesy of some glossy, black, stretchy thread I picked up s/where ages ago. Wish I'd found more of it since it's the cat's PJs for aerials in 1/48th.
Paints.
Dulon rattle can auto white. It gives good coverage and has a slight satin finish.
NS Int Blue is Humbrol 144 lightened with white.
NS Sea Blue is Humbrol 25 and 21 at about 4:1 ratio. Picked up that clue from a model site (Hyper Scale?) and it's quite a revelation, to see how close it looks to references.
Saved me a whole bunch of teeth-gnashing to hunt down an off-the-shelf paint.
Roodecals kindly donated by DAVE WILSON, a fellow modeller. Kit decals were the faded blue. Plus they ALL had yellow surrounds, totally wrong for the build specs.
Pastels helped break up the monotony of the base coat.
Must say, this has certainly lifted my game re: SBDs. Now I can tackle my 1/32nd kits with confidence.
Hope you like it.
