Just looking at the photo of MT Section with the Refulers Cranes etc, I actually remember driving a similar Coles Crane still in use at Whenuapai in the early 1980's till we got a "Gallion" Mobile Crane. The Coles had been left behind by the Yanks and "gifted" it to the RNZAF. No power steering or Synchros it was muscled around corners.

None of the Skyhawk's " loaned" to museums had engines . I assume the engines have resale value , since SAFE are still overhauling them occasionally .

Most of them have been "sold" with the remaining aircraft, but I did hear MOTAT were getting one on a stand to display beside their Skyhawk. '54 at Wigram still has an engine fitted.

The Coles Crane was still in use in the 1980's as I used to operate it, crash gearbox and no power steering, we changed the tyres in 1982 and it took several hours of manual labour to break the seal on the rims (probably originals) one of those old tankers (2nd from left was used as a defueler then as well, those were good days when we had real aircraft to refuel....

YUUUUPPP,they look pretty crapped out. I don't think those are 'rules and regulations' under the wings Don, most likely Ordnance.

Have proboards changed how you do that??? You have to click on the "Insert Image" button from above your message then paste in the "Direct" link from Photobucket (not IMG like you used to.)

And if you're copying the link from Facebook, simply right click and Copy Image URL, which gives you that direct link.

Probably a visitor or one they already had? Ex Israeli or US perhaps? It has the avionics hump installed so probably not an A4K.

It is one of Draken's A-4Ls (modified A-4C). They have 3 or 4 of them leased from another US company. The rest are painted in their black and white camo scheme but this one hasn't been painted in it for some reason. These A-4Ls were originally bought by Malaysia in the early 1980s but never converted to A-4PTM or shipped to Malaysia. Somehow they found their way into private hands and they are about the only privately owned single-seat Skyhawks available for sale and purchase in the US post 9/11.

So what is the story with the CATMs, TGMs etc? They were part of the sales package?
