So what is the story with the CATMs, TGMs etc? They were part of the sales package? Apparently so. Altho the TGMs look like they are the old "B" models. I think we kept the "G"s for the Seasprites.

I never realised most of the instruments were lit up reddish-pink like that at night. I guess it's harder to spot from a distance?

All that red cockpit lighting really showing its age. Nothing very NVG compatible there!

Yes, the TGMs we use on the sprites are mostly ex Skyhawk Gs. I think there are four that the navy purchased at the time they got the D(NZ) Mavericks. No idea what happened to out B TGMs, those in the pictures could well be them.

All that red cockpit lighting really showing its age. Nothing very NVG compatible there! It would very easily to make the red instruments NVIS compatible. There are probably NVIS version of those instruments available The HUD and DU's may pose more of problem. That cockpit was cutting edge in 1988/90 and had certain systems/capabilities that the RAAF Hornet and RAN Seahawk aircraft either didn't have, or had but were much less capable. The Data transfer system being one case in point. I think it still holds up reasonably well today.

I wouldn't have thought that red very NVG friendly? Hence all our edge lighting is green these days so it doesn't bloom out the goggles.
