Hello All When I was about 14years old I picked up 2 very badly stripped gutted, gass axed Harvard frames from the back of Ardmore airfield, my parents thought I was crazy at the time, well needless to sey almost 15 years later im in the prosses of stripping down and collecting parts - 1 for me and 1 for the local ATC as a flight simulator. If any body out there has or knows of the location of any static/ unservicable, unwanted cockpit fittings, instruments please get intouch i'd love to hear from you. Im getting the kidds involved in this one and a few of them are taking a keen intrest in our fine aviation history and giving them a new found Hobbie
Many thanks for your time
Kind Regard

PS- Guys fantastic collection of pics from Rukuhia my god what a waiste, if only......

Hi there. I know those frames you speak of. When I started collecting my Harvard bits, back in 1990, they were sitting in a yard in South Auckland somewhere,, I think at the same place I had my frame sand-blasted. There were also various other bent and damaged panels present. The frames made their way to Ardmore and I had heard a "young fella" had acquired them. Obviously you. Well done. My frame came from a different source, but contained many useful bits. And I have since been able to find a lot of other stuff (although never "enough.") So its been 20 years, but this is what it looks like at the moment. I can help you out with a hydraulic shelf if you need one.

Sorry for the late reply been over in Ozz for a visit Wow that's some fantastic work you've carried out there on the MKII fuse, just go's to show what can be accomplished with a little TLC and a load of time and research. A hydraulic shelf would be much appreciated, many many thanks where are you based??? If you don't mind I've got a few questions?? - On the rear frames there are or wear joining blocks from where the rear fuse & tail assembly would no doubt go, on 1 of mine the scrapper has chopped them off, is there some I could go to get them replace or replicated to the original length??? Also after looking along the hole length of the 2 frames there are no signs as to the RNZAF ID of either aircraft any clues on how to ID them ?? Again many thanks for the reply's and support Hope to hear from you soon
Kind regaurds

Hi, I live in Ashburton and you are welcome to one of my spare hydraulic shelves. Although incomplete, they are substantial so will take you another step in the right direction.
Most of the Mk II frames were cut in the same place so they'd fit in NZR wagons to go North. (At least thats what I believe the circumstances were). I simply took meaurements off a 'real" Harvard and had the missing bit replicated by a bloke who is handy with a welder. It's by no means a legit repair, but it looks ok for my purposes.
As for positive ID of frames,...... impossible I'm afraid. I only assume mine is from NZ948, becuase the guy I got it from reckoned thats what it was. However, the makers plate (and only the makers plate) is from NZ914, so that has become the assumed id for my collection of bits.
Contact me to arrange an uplift of your hyd shelf and good luck with your project.

Thanks for your interest. Not a lot happened to mine, but she is looking a bit more like a Harvard now that she stands on her gear. Cheers, Peter

I would love to post a pic of mine but Im not back in the country until the of the year. The one I set aside for the local ATC has stopped any progress due to the kids loosing interest. Once back I will drop in a get a little work done and hopefully get it up and going as a flight sim for them., maybe that will spark a few aviation minded kids to take an interest. I can only hope that my MkII will one day look as good as Pete's Well done mate
