I have just been browsing through Google earth looking at UK airfield (just out of random interest) and was pleased to discover that under the historical imagery option, large parts of the midlands now has December 1945 images available. If you arent familiar with this, select "Historical Imagery" under the view menu tab A slider appears showing the dates available, and you can slide back and forth through time. I have been looking at Birmingham, including the Castle Bromwich aircraft plant, Coventry, and airfields such as Mildenhall, Wattisham and Bentwaters. really worth a look.
