I have just been watching "Britain from Above" on Prime TV. I would thoroughly recommend it as it not only has interesting facts and stories of Britains development and its countryside, but it has absolutely stunning aerial footage - with lovely aeroplanes! Tonight we had a DH Rapide over Oxford and a Eurofighter Typhoon through the lakes district (amongst others). If you have Prime, check it out on Fridays, 7.30pm.

I saw it too, that Rapide was gorgeous, over a gorgeous city, Oxford. It was amazing to see it from the air like that, i never knew the city was such an odd shape.
Next week they have a Tiger Moth too. Andrew marr must be a plane buff I think.
And we were treated to a lovely Dakota in Survivors last night too including a superb slow low pass. It's nice to know that the bulk of mankind can be wiped out, civilisation as we know it has crumbled, and the venerable old Dakota is still flying. Brilliant.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are DC-3s still flying long after the 737 and A320 have left the skies!

I am watching episode 3 right now. What a great program. So far, flying a Coast Guard helicopter in the misty mountains, flying in a microlight over Loch Ness, and my favourite so far, flying in a paraglider with all the hang gliders at the national champs. Bloody fantastic footage and what a great show. It's a really great aviation friendly series. And they haven't even shown the Tiger Moth over Glastonbury yet, it's still to come!

Is this series the one that shows daily events like all the trains running across the rail network, ferries running back and forth across the Channel, etc?

I missed the first episode but yes I think that was in episode one from what Mum told me. She said they followed the gas consumption in britain which always peaks at its highest at the end of Eastenders when all the old ducks put the kettle on. Funny.

Hi Dave, I watched the first episode and it was the power consumption (electricity) that was featured. Apparently the UK is the only country in the world that they have to have the electricity grid controller ready for this sort of occasion. When Eastenders finishes, due to the huge demand for power when as you say the old ducks etc put their jugs/kettles on for a cuppa, the guy literally has the telly on tuned to Eastenders to get the timing exactly right. On the episode they even had to get power shunted over from France to meet the power need requirements. If they get the timing wrong, it's lights out.

Ah, so it is the same series that I am thinking of.
It was on the ABC here earlier this year, and I caught that particular episode with the Eastenders power useage surge. Sad really! ;D
I might have to get myself a copy of the series now, as I missed all the other episodes, but from what you've all said, it sounds great.

Funny its Eastenders and not the other yawn fest Coronation Street. ;D (Ducks down to avoid thrown fag ends and pints from Rovers Return)
