STONE Alan NZ 413113 Auckland 16 August 2018 Belated advice on his death . Actually born as Abraham Novodvorski his family emigrated to NZ in 1931 to avoid persecution. Served in the Army in Fiji and remustered as an AG to get onto ops. Served on 576 squadron in a crew including four RNZAF (Toomey, Stone , Barron, Hansen) His story is quite special. It seems that NZ413113 may not have been allocated. This man looks more likely to have been NZ4311349 Abraham Stone who enlisted in 1943 and was commissioned as an air gunner on 17 Nov 44. Errol

I hope this is the correct way to respond ... I am new to this forum. I am an admin for a group whose interest is 576 Squadron which was based at Elsham Wolds and Fiskerton. Errol mentioned Stone and other RNZAF folk who flew as a crew. We also think the crew's pilot George Ryan may have been a New Zealander but we have been unable to confirm this. Thank you. If he is 90 then he'd have been 15 or so when WWII ended. So if his age is true I'd say he was not RNZAF during WWII.
