Had quite a lot to do with George Anderson over the years mainly through the Masonic Lodge. His son Kevin drove bulk spreaders for P.G.Smith at Helensville some years ago. Kevin did a video of Garry Langman and myself sowing lime on a property at Waimauku. Alex, Georges other son plays golf at South Head. My son and Alex have played quite a lot of golf together and against each other. George was a real gentleman.

These (abridged) from Norm Empson:
Tim Jaggard passed away at 0300 this morning at Broadvew Rest Home, Wanganui, after a long illness. Funeral on Saturday afternoon at 1500hrs. Venue; Dempsey & Forrest Funeral Home, Guyton Street, Wanganui. No 73521 Sgt. Charles Thomas Randal (Tim) Jaggard. Ex "J" Force. RNZAF GSI and MT.
Len Varty passed away last Saturday. He went peacefully in his sleep in Wellington Hospital, after going in a couple of days before for a check on some fluid on his lungs. Len had been in a rest home for some time and did not have any real quality of life with loss of mobility and lack of interest in reading or TV. Len’s wife Alice also passed away - about 2-3 years ago. There will be a small private family funeral for him in WN. There will probably be a death notice issued soon. Len came to the RNZAF from the RAF about 1962, and was posted to Nav on Sunderlands. His last posting was as OCOS at Ohakea to then retire in Bulls.

From Gordon Ragg, 5 Squadron RNZAF Association:
It is with deep sadness that I advise the death of the staunchly loyal and capable 'Spats' Nelson, a sound companion through many adventures together who I respected for more than 40 years. W/O (RTD) Walter Barry (Spats) NELSON X80383 E Fit / AEOP and Intel Spec RNZAF 10 Jan 61 to 21 Sep 84, 3 Apr 89 to 2 Apr 92 and 26 Jun 95 to 30 Jul 10.
We flew together for 7 years and always enjoyed each other's talents and company. He was always a willing contributor to any task and had great difficulty saying 'no' to any request for his services. Among his many commitments, he was the diligent Secretary and Treasurer of 5 Squadron Association for several years and Producer of many excellent newsletters before the days of our website. His deep experience, insight and diligence as an Intel Specialist made him a singular pillar of operational support to the squadron for close to 15 years.
Spats and Margaret had moved to Taumaranui area after he retired nearly 3 years ago to be close to their grandchildren but he has has been quite unwell in recent times and died on Sunday 24 Feb 13.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated in The Church of the Immaculate Conception, High St, Taumarunui on Friday 1st March at 1.00pm followed by a Private Cremation.
