Have many New Zealanders flown the Lockheed P-38 Lightning?
The only RNZAF man I am aware of is Wing Commander John Arkwright, who got to fly his US General boss's personal P-38 at least once in the Pacific.
Did any others fly the type, or any kiwi warbird pilots postwar I wonder?

Didn't the RAF have a few in service during the war?
Surely a few more New Zealanders would have had a go on them with the RAF?

The RAF had a handful for evaluation, but I don't think they had many others. However it's possible some kiwis flew other USAAF examples like John Arkwirght did I guess, and there's also the possibility that some kiwis flew them in the RAAF perhaps.

Hi Dave I have been checking this topic in our files and unfortunately I did not find any reference about New Zealander's flying P38 during WWII. Here is my two cent showing a photo of our RAF and RAAF P38 series. Kind regards Santiago
