lets hope the french supply system works better than the Italian one, as the Aeromacchi suffered from a shocking lead time for spares and price(USD$20 for a nosewheel O ring) Then there was the companies that had gone bust that made a lot of A class parts. Trust me it doesn't $150 Euro's and 120 days for a bearing I'm 99% sure I could be in a Auto shop 20 kms away for $6 AUD

$150 Euro's and 120 days for a bearing I'm 99% sure I could be in a Auto shop 20 kms away for $6 AUD Overhauled a Blackburn Bombardier...... only a couple of hundred were built so replacement parts were an issue. Needed to replace the front crankshaft oil seal. On a whim, I took the old one to a local bearing supplies shop. 'How many do you need?' they said, and only a couple of $$. In the interests of serviceability, aircraft manufacturers tend to use use standard sizes for such things, but charge outrageous prices due to alleged quality control and audit trail requirements.

Can anyone confirm if all of ours are being built by Eurocopter or are some are being assembled in Australia along with those for the Aussie Army?

It's not just the French and the Italians though, it happens here in NZ too. When i was at Wigram a few of the PTS guys told me there was a clip in the Airtrainer that held wiring and it often broke so needed regular replacement. Pacific Aerospace asked NZ$50 per clip, but one of the avionics guys realised the exact same product was 50 cents at Dick Smith. The reasoning for the price hike was it had to get certified for aviation use which meant a lot more money than buying it down the road. The RNZAF was not convinced so they got the Dick Smith clips certified themselves saving the supply system a huge wad.

Great stuff. Nice photo, thanks for that.
Does the pilot not have a door on the NH90?

Nice photo.
The window is the "door" - Dukes of Hazard" style.

Weird having all the exits outlined in dotted lines... please cut here? Not going to help the crew so I think they should go.

"Request our air strike support" Sorry guys, that was a bit cruel. Great to see you have some new military kit to be proud of. Heh, funny, except you might be requesting that support from a Kiwi pilot. Nice to see the NH90 pic, is there an eta for operation in NZ yet?

So who's going to bring out a set of 1/72 Decals for the Revell kit then? Hey guys, I've been wondering for a while how I can contribute to this forum, and so wondering if I could offer this: It seems to me that with most of the current RNZAF fleet going LoVis with black markings on grey, a decal sheet for, say, a 1/72 NH-90 kit (or A-109 and UH-1H for that matter) is going to be in one colour: black. Which means anyone with a decent laser printer or inkjet printer, a sheet of clear decal film, and suitable artwork in pdf format, should be able to produce their own decals. I'm a graphic designer, with the necessary software needed to produce artwork for things like decal sheets, so if there's interest there, I could prepare artwork for the Revell NH-90, save it as a pdf and post it on the forum or make it available for download or something. I would need help with markings specs and things like that, though. And once the NH-90's in NZ, and the dust has settled after its arrival, maybe someone with the right connections could get me a quick photo op so I could take reference pics? I live in Feilding so I'm not far from the Base. In the meantime, if someone already has an unbuilt Revell NH-90 kit (can't afford one myself – up to $70 for a 1/72 medium helicopter? Come on Revell, gee), I could do with a hi-res 1:1 colour scan of the decal sheet so I have an idea what size to do the cross hatching around the doors and windows. Thanks.

I've never seen one for $70 (except one on Trademe), the normal price in the model shops in Auckland $46 - $50. I'm not sure how much Mr Models is charging though, is that where you've seen it for $70?
I'll have a look and see if the finishing scheme drawing is available yet, but I'm currently at sea with navy so wont be back at work until August.
