When log on I can see (for about a nanosecond) the message that I have an unread PM but then the Vildebeest lands on the button and obscures it!
How else can I access the PM?
Cheers

Go to the Home page, and 'Forum Statistics' at the bottom includes 'Your personal messages'.

So, do you not get something immediately right of the header photo that says "Hi thomarse, you have xxx messages, and xxx are new" and then the date and time? If you click on that, you go straight to your inbox.

What is your screen resolution set to, thomarse?
'cause if it is only set to 800 pixels width, then the header could quite conceivably cover up the personal welcome that tells you how many PMs you have. You'd see it briefly, then the header would download and cover it.

I've just been taking a closer look at things.
The header picture is 790 pixels width.
So even if your screen resolution is 1024 pixels width, it is probably going to cover enough of that personal welcome message to maybe also cover details of how many PMs you have, including the link to personal messages.
It can be a bit of a problem with webpages. As computer monitor (or screen in the case of a laptop) resolution gets bigger, webpages tend to expand as well as people take advantage of the fact they can widen things up. This then catches out people who are still running screens on 1024 or even 800 pixels width.
In the case of the header picture, it will be an overlayer, so it will download and display over the top of anything else in that header space if there isn't sufficient width for them to display side by side.

It must be your browser. Mine is fine and I have it set to 1024 pixels. Mine is an old monitor too. If I zoom it up the words and link to the inbox simply move over. My recommendation, get IE8
I used to originally make the headers wider at about 900 and they still never covered over anything, it just stretched the box out and pushed the words over.
