I have been updating the Marlborough page for my Wartime RNZAF Stations section of the website.
I have two areas that need addressing if anyone can hep please.
One is in recent months I discovered or was told about an RNZAf Convalescent Home that was situated in the Marlborough Sounds, where injured or sick airmen would be sent to recover in peace and nice surroundings (Rotorua had the same sort of home by the way).
I began to update the map and research it further, but got sidetracked and now that I've gotten back to it I cannot for the life of me recall where I got this reference from, and I have forgotten the name of the place where it was situated.
I remember looking it up on the net and finding it is still a holiday resort, or perhaps retreat is a better word. Does anyone know what the place is called? See the map on my Marlbourough page here for an approximate location - maybe we discussed it here on the forum? It's really niggling at me now. Damned brain...
Here's the map on my site:

The other area I have been addressing is Omaka. I took a wander around the old station buildings and got some photos last weekend. Using references I have been able to identify some of the buildings, and not others, as to their wartime role. Can anyone here add further to the notes I have among the photos please?
Also, I am kicking myself as I planned to get a photo of the front of the Marlborough Aero Club building when there was no people in front but forgot to go back and do it. Can any kind Blenheimer please take a couple of photos of the historic building from the front entrance for me please? It was, I'm told, the Officiers' Mess in WWII. Lovely old bulding it is too.

Thirdly, I know a number of forum members are regular flyers out of Omaka. I wonder if there is any chance in the future to please get some aerial photos of RNZAF Delta, RNZAF Woodbourne and RNZAF Fairhall as they are today to add to the site please? Especially Delta (there's a good wartime map on the page) and Fairhall which I'm told by Graham Orphan still has one of its wartime hangars preserved! This is now known (as it was prewar, as Woodbourne Farm, and is over the back (south side) of RNZAF Base Woodbourne apparently. I tried to spot it when I flew out on Tuesday but didn't see it.
Lastly, does anyone have knowledge of any RNZAF activity in WWII at Wairau, or along the Wairau river west of The Delta? A map of all the RNZAF stations and depots, etc that's in the RNZAF museum had this place marked on it as a wartime RNZAF site. I cannot find out what happened there. Was it a farm paddock used as a satellite landing area for 2 SFTS perhaps? Any ideas?
Thanks guys.
