On this day 64 years ago. Micheal Herrick and Sholto Duncan of No. 15 Squadron, RNZAF, scored the first RNZAf P-40 kill in the Pacific when they shot down a Japanese floatplane.
99 more fighter kills would follow for the RNZAF Fighter Wing, though only 98 would be credited at the time.

Did the RNZAF score any further kills after the P40 was replaced with the F4U?

The final P-40 kill was on the 13th of February 1944

No, I didn't pick that book off the shelf though it crossed my mind to, I picked up David Duxbury, Ross Dunlop, Ross Macpherson and Ross Ewing's 1977 'New Zealand Military Aircraft 1913-1977' :-)
Edited to correct title

The Duxbury et al book has a Skyhawk on the cover and is a thin softcover about A4 size. Foreruner to the slightly larger version done in 1987 by Duxbury, Ewing and Macpherson

Actually, my mistake, I got the title wrong sorry. Should be New Zealand Military Aircraft 1913-1977. I confused it with the title of the 1987 book. Sorry.
