Now that the NZ Government has apparently purchased Shell NZ and it is being renamed Z Energy, does anyone know if that includes the Shell aviation fuel? Will it have any bearing on fuel prices for flyers if the company is NZ owned?

Shell passed off its Aviation products line to Petroleum Logistics a few years back, before it sold to Z. the Shell branding was kept, although I believe it has moved on again to Greenstone energy. I have a Shell Aviation fuel card for a year or so and have never used it as all the pumps in the patch CKE is currently flying in are Air BP, Oddly I havent had any notices other than saying the lubrication (aeroshell oil and greases) has be passed on to someone else - I'm not even sure my Shell (Petroleum Logistics) fuel card is valid anymore!

I believe the NZ Governent's Superannuation Fund is now the owner of the company, dakman.

Thought it was the big super scheme outfit that bought it. taxpayers dont have a stake in this (directly anyway)...Dont really care who owns them, as long as my fuel costs decrease

I may be wrong, but I thought it was the Government behind it. Hence the reason why they are making it an all NZ-focused company, I thought.

I thought that too Dave. Maybe we can find out for what it's worth.
Greenstone is the current old Shell branding on aviation fuel trucks and pumps. One of the fuel guys at Auckland a few nights ago mentioned that they were re-branding again to Z-Energy.
Bruce, your Shell card will work with Greenstone/Z, my new Shell card is Greenstone branded but the letter that came with it said it would cross over with the new brands. I haven't used a fuel card of my own for over 10 years but they seem adamant I should have a new one.

I did not know that Shell /Z / was bought by us as NZ tax payers ?? Z is jointly owned by Infratil (the majority shareholder (more than 50%) and the NZ Superannuation Fund (less than 50%). Infratil are the major shareholder in Wellington International Airport and they hold a large shareholding in Auckland International Airport. They also own NZ bus, which is a huge operator in Wellington and Auckland.

I wonder if this ownership will make fuel more competitively priced against the other companies or whether they will continue to cartel price fixing.
