how hard is it to make a simple call to confirm you have the name right? Tonight's news piece on the tragedy at Safe Air, where the techie was sucked into the engine during tests, scrolled my nurd.
First off, poor Hilary Barry was reading hard-copy that described the place as "AirSafe". Then they conveniently re-wrote technical specs by calling the engine a "jet turbo-prop". Okay, admittedly it's a "jet turbine attached to a prop" but, honestly, wouldn't the "turbo" bit make jet redundant? And, this makes me cringe, apparently it's a Rolls-Royce T-56? Yes, RR acquired Allison in '95, I'd still imagine that folks who built over 18 000 engines would prefer 'Allison' be included in the title?
There are other, minor irks yet I'd limit it to the obvious.
(shakes head, clicks tongue . . )
Regards
Ross
