I remember this Cub well as I often used to call in to Wanganui Airport (where this shot was taken) on my way between Stratford & Palmy. That was 1959-63 so it probably hasn't flown since the mid fifties.Last time I saw it the hangar had fallen on it & looked as if it had broken its back.Seemed a pity to let an aeroplane deteriorate like that.

Yes, that was the small hangar it lived in for many years at Wanganui. My photo is dated February 1966 and obviously it had sat there for long before that.
Anyone know who Christian J L Dundon, Wanganui was, who let it deteriorate over so many years? He never seems to have owned any other aircraft. The current owner Farr has also had possession for almost 40 years without activity, I wonder what the problem with the rebuild is?
Nice video of restored J-2

At one time he was a member of the RNZAF:
NZ405419 Christian Jeremiah Lionel Dundon, born 30 Mar 1914, attended Wanganui Technical College (1928 -) and enlisted at Harewood on 13 Dec 1940 as a Clerk, General Duties.
Died at Wanganui relatively young, in 1969, aged 55, occupation at the time being that of builder.

Often sighted this aeroplane at Wanganui in my travels and always hoped it would one day be restored to fly again The ownership trail appears to end with Murray Farr at one stage owner of a Commanche rego escapes me . He was living in Hawera in the late 70s is he the trade me vendor??

Dakman, remember Murray used to commute between Hawera and MS to tow in BNP?
Gotta be keen!
AGD was semi-derelict when I first logged her 21.5.62. Forty-nine years on; I'm semi-derelict and she's probably no worse than she was then.
Sigh.................
