Does anyone here have photos of the replica SE5A that is at Wanaka, formerly with the NZFPM? I seem to recall that it was built by AJD Engineering before Sir Tim Wallis paired up with that company to form Hawker Restorations. They made several flying replicas of WWI types from memory, but did this SE5A ever fly at any time? Was it built to airworthy standard? I'm wondering too who's colours they have it in, is it a Kiwi ace?
The other question, in the old museum there was a stunning artwork on the inside of the hangar doors, painted by the great Ron Fulstow, of a Typhoon or Tempest blowing up a V-1 flying bomb. I seem to recall the aircraft it depicts was flown by Jim McCaw, Richie's grandad. Does anyone have a decent photo of the artwork? Is it still there? I mean the massive artwork, not the smaller version of normal painting size.

I never heard of it being airworthy.

Brilliant! Thanks for that. Even better than I remember it, I love that mural.
It looks like it is actually pulling out from a ground attack rather than a V-1 attack as I had thought. I know there's definately a Fulstow painting in the museum of a V-1 blowing up and a Typhoon or Tempest flying through it. I think it may have been Jim McCaw's aircraft depicted.

I know the artwork Dave, there's a shot of Jim McCaw admiring it in the 1994 Wanaka book.

I was looking at my 2006 Wanaka airshow photos and spotted this inn the background of a shot I took in the hangar, so have cropped it out:
