Defence Investigates One Stop On Line Shop for Recruits 14 October 2010 Applying to become a member of the New Zealand Defence Force is going to get easier following the decision to call for proposals to create an on line application and candidate management system. The system will form the basis of a unified recruiting process for all three Services. Commander Nigel Philpott, Director of the Defence Recruiting Organisation says the Navy, Army and Air Force, currently use different systems and processes to manage their recruitment. “The online application and candidate management system will make the process easier and more relevant for the 45,000 enquiries per year, and more efficient and effective for us as we receive applications and manage candidates through to initial training.” The Request for Proposal has been released onto the Government Electronic Tenders System (www.GETS.co.nz) with responses due by 1 November. A provider is expected to be selected by early next year and the system will be in place in time to support a new service delivery model for Defence Recruiting by 1 July 2011. “The New Zealand Defence Force is running a fair, open and transparent tender process for this contract, which will deliver significant efficiencies and savings for the NZ Defence Force,” says Commander Philpott. www.navy.mil.nz/know-your-navy/news/default.htm
