The hill behind is Mt dewar with the Skippers saddle, I was dissapointed I didn't get the final photo,( the bill payer turned up) with the balloon totally deflated as it dissappeared below the long grass, then the load of passengers lifted it and carried it to the trailer, after they had the champayne.

I have had a couple of tethered rides over the years in NZ, but that's not really the real thing. Had an abortive attempt in Christchurch years ago, but the weather did not co-operate. Problem is, NZ is among the worst places in the world for ballooning - a north-south country with generally a strong west-east air flow doesn't leave a lot of room to play with.
We had a holiday in Port Douglas (Queensland) three years ago, so took the opportunity to access the balloon trip available there. Apparently the weather there is balloon-suitable 360 days a year. Apart from the start-in-the-dark early hour (I'm an owl not a fowl) a most enjoyable experience.

[ [/IMG]
Nice clean digger. ;D We're not all just planespotters here. Or trainspotters too! Whats the guts on the Kingston Flyer now? will it be operating again?
