I thought there would be something on the Min Def site but nothing. However I remember seeing something there late last year which stipulated what they were looking for but it's gone now. But I can't remember if was an interim or not. I thiought I had a copy of the document but I haven't. Interim could mean leased and all the things listed by Beagle. Knowing our polies put the emphasis on cheap.
It will be interesting to see what effect the mutiny in PNG has on our polies and if they start realising that Vote: Defence needs to be realistically funded. Then again dreams are free, but we can always live in hope.

I see that the US Government has cancelled the order with Embraer for the Tucano while they investigate the actions that closed Beechcraft out of the running.

Another Airbus-v-Boeing-type scenario? Why don't they just accept the most capable platforms for the job and if the US manufacturer misses out it is because their machine is inferior in some respect.

IMV the whole USAF close support contract will be cancelled
I see that Beechcraft have a Texan on display at the upcoming RNZAF airshow...a sign of things to come?

We've put a request for info out so I wouldn't be surprised if Embrear ask to be a late inclusion. Be silly for them not too. Don't be surprsied if Airbus Military and Alenia are sniffing around either because they will know we are doing a study on future transport options and that we have an agreement with Australia re purchasing and provision defence items. I also have niggle at back of head that says that RNZAF not being open about all participants. It's just a comment made somewhere else a month or so back.

I think it looks like a variant of the Embrear 190 which Virgin Australia fly. I had pleasure of three flights in them; Broome - Perth, Perth - Adelaide and Adelaide - Melbourne three years ago. Nice aircraft two seats either side of centre aisle.

townlikenoudder.blogspot.co.nz/20....af-booklet.html This was posted in the Fighting Spirit book thread. But there is two things that caught my attention. What's interesting is that the C-130 in the Lockheed Martin page is actually a C-130J, 5th page down, lockheed martin trying to say something here? And also someone pointed out that there are two Texan II's in RNZAF colours, so does this mean that the Beechcraft are going topush for a tender?

I hope they PURCHASE some texan IIs. They seem the ideal little trainer, plus the yanks use them. Also, note the emphasism on the word purchase, so that our maintenance guys can actually work on them.

I believe even the North American Texan was and is never called Texan in the USA, it is always referred to as the T-6, AT-6, SNJ, etc. but never the Texan it seems.
