Greetings fans.
Rather than clog up my Auster thread I thought I would put this one up since its really about Anthony's Auster.
I had been trying to get up to Omaka to discuss the restoration of my Auster with Jay and finally Anthony had a free day to go up with me.
Never one to waste an opportunity, Anthony stripped the rudder and it kept Cameron (Anthony's son) company in the back.
(No Cameron wasn't rolling round in the back he was safely belted in the seat! I know you guys someone will say something ha ha)
We got up there just before lunch so took the opportunity to have lunch at the Aviation Heritage Centre.
Anthony noticed something interesting about the Hurricane replica parked outside with the Stuka. It wasn't a RAF one anymore!
See?
Those of you who read Classic Wings may remember an article about a Hurricane that was recovered from a lake in Russia. Well the replica now where's the markings of this Hurricane.
A information board beside it tells the story.
Quite a bit of repair work has been done to the fuselage frame on Anthony's T7 frame which will make it last for a long time. On the left is Gavin Conroy and Jay McIntyre while Cameron holds the rudder. Isn't it shiny? That's 5 hours of Anthony scrubbing away with scotchbrite and thinners!
Love the removable doors and the hinged windows. Not too clear in the photos but the doors have a lever so you quickly remove the doors. They flew around a fair bit with them off in Hong Kong.
This beauty is coming along with engine cowlings a work in progress.
And of course we couldn't pass up the chance to see the Skyhawk!
I'll post some more in the Skyhawk sale thread.
I took a few of the Bristol and can't recall why they put a black stripe on each of the port prop blades?
