Roy Nesbit's research looks pretty solid to me. His view was that the Norseman was hit by jettisoned bombs, but the event was missed due to different time zones in the reporting. There are a bunch of the usual hysteric theories out there as well.

That's one I have not heard of yet. The most common one I found is hit by A/A guns. I even read somewhere he died in a Brothel. It's amazing to hear some of these rubbish stories.

It's sad he died, he was a musical genius, I love his music. I also love the music of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw and other big bands of that era.

Thanks JDK, I'll have a good read of it.
Dave I agree, I love the 30's 40's era music. I agree with all of them you mentioned especially Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman. I also like Arthur Askey and the Andrew Sisters.

Not the most reliable source (Reader's Digest but there is a nicely illustrated little summary of Nesbit's findings in "The Truth About History". Struck by a bomb in the jettison zone 30 miles south of Beachy Head. According to the article there was also an eyewitness - a man named Fred Shaw, a navigator in a Lancaster.
