... Greetings fellow enthusiasts. Sometimes the most appropriate transport vehicle, not a motorcycle or a jeep. Indeed, to reach places through mountains or forests, with the mules is simply the best. I edit a picture of a mule to carry weapons and ammunition to the army during WWII Australian. ------------------------------------------------- zurribui.ucoz.com/A33.jpg------------------------------------------------- zurribulli.ucoz.com/index.html------------------------------------------------- To see more pictures of this mule and more animals to go: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Enter my website. - Scale 1 / 10. - Location: Far West / Animales. ---------------------------------------------- Sincerely ... Jorge.

That is pretty neat, well done. The NZ Army (and I'm sure many others too) used mules to also carry food to the frontline soldiers where they were less conspicuous than vehicles, or had to go over tough terrain.

... Thanks for your comments. Animals have been used by the army in the past. But, is that in the future, also be employed. To advance through the jungles and mountains, no machine, than a mule. ... Jorge.

... This mule cargo, carrying a Bren gun Australian Army, which to have this piece, I had to customize. It's a handmade piece. Constructed of plastic and metal. With joints. When editing my collection of Australian and Japanese soldiers, will be in dioramas. ... Jorge.

In other news, National have signed a deal for 20 new LAV's.... And the problems that the decision to reintroduce mules has caused. Even the acronym is controversial. What was the interim agreement? - Light Animal Variant after Light Animal Vehicle was discarded. I can imagine what the MAV would be, a pack horse, but an HAV - elephants or camels!! And you must feel for the policy makers in Wellington as there is no policy on management of animals. It was assumed they would get a service number like the dogs do then someone remembered all the controversy over medals and the like when the dogs were deployed to the Solomans. Medals are administered by the human resources gurus. 'Were too busy to look after animals' they cried and they are not humans. Their own equity cell really caused a storm when they pointed out the mules will have rights that must be protected and that is HR's function. They used Treasury policy that the mules must be administered as capital assests as an example of where they need protection. Navy and Air have no policy on the carriage of mules on the Canterbury or C-130 similarly NZDF has no vets to support the animals when deployed. And all this must be sorted out before the First of Class trial that is to be conducted in early April 2012. The naval term 'First of Class' stuck when a Navy officer attending one of the project planning meetings joked that camels were but ships of the desert.

Sorry but I am completely lost here, what is this all about? Have the NZ Army reintroduced pack mules?

I'm even confused with the poll choices, let alone the rest of it!

I think the mule diorama is superb, and that Bren, if it's hand made from scratch, is brilliant.
