Strap a couple of Sidewinder on the wingtips, and voila - New Zealand has an air combat force again!

I saw it on the news tonight, very impressive. Better than the so-called jetpack being developed here in NZ.

Better than the so-called jetpack being developed here in NZ. Dave!! Wheres your patriotism?!?! Ours is much better-how useful is something that can only be launched from an airborne platform? Admittedly yes it does have a high novelty value....

How useful is the Martin Jetpack? I still haven't seen actual evidence thta it can fly, and it's huge and cunbersome and pretty pointless.

I thought there was some quite good evidence out there for it. The real beauty about it is its potential for a variey of tasks. The Martin may not pull the chicks like Jetman can, but it'll get the job done when its needed! Sometimes thats more important...

I've heard that it would be good for low-level observation work, would be great in SAR type areas, especially urban stuff where a helo may not be suitable. Might be good for rabbit shooting too ;D Like I said, its not a chick-puller like a Ferrarri, more a Transit van....
